I did bootcamp in June 2010, and have been in Lifers ever since. When I started SPT, it was a struggle to do the 3 mile loop at Memorial Park in 30 minutes. I had to stop to walk at least once. I could not do a single pull-up. Waking up early was never on my mind, especially for something as silly as exercise. After my first SPT workout I was sore in places I didn’t know could get sore! I stuck with it and my best 3mi time is now just under 20 minutes, my best unbroken chain of pull-ups is 21, I feel and look healthier than ever before, my dietary choices are better, and for the first time I genuinely enjoy exercise. The instructors have unique workouts that push our limits physically and mentally, and that’s why we get better.
Do you have a favorite SEAL PT memory or workout that comes to mind? Even a funny/memory involving Instructor Walston or one of the other Instructors?
During Lifers Bootcamp we often do competitions which are always fun. One time it was a tug-o-war competition; another time we had teams that had to run to the bayou and fill small paper cups with bayou water and bring it back full. The shenanigans at our happy hours and holiday parties are the best, but cannot be mentioned here. My favorite memories are from when I first started and did not think I could complete the workout. The Lifers never let me give up and kept me going beyond what my mind wanted to, and I’m eternally grateful for that.
Any advice for someone wanting to try SEAL PT?
